ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice Javed Iqbal has said speaking truth is a difficult task. Corruption is the main hurdle in the progress and prosperity of the country.NAB is determined to achieve the target of corruption free Pakistan.
He said NAB performance is lauded by credible international institutions like Transparency International, World Economic Forum and other reputed international institutions.
Presiding over a high level meeting in Lahore, chairman said corruption is the biggest hurdle in the way of country’s progress. He said the bureau believes is zero corruption and hundred percent progress.
The meeting deliberated taking mega corruption cases to logical conclusion, fighting mega corruption cases in light of concrete evidence and recovering the looted amount from the corrupt elements and depositing in to the national exchequer.
He added the last four years performance of NAB Lahore has registered 17 percent per annum increase as comparing to last 17 years.
He noted NAB Lahore has directly and indirectly recovered record Rs 74 billion from corrupt elements in the last four years.
The meeting was briefed by DG Lahore and combined investigation team (CIT) about progress in the corruption references including reference against the management of Eden Housing Society, progress in the investigations against Chaudhry Sugar Mills, MNA Khusro Bakhtar; MPA Hashim Jawan Bakht; former DCO, Lahore Noir Ul Amin Mengal; former DG, LDA, Ahad Khan Cheema; MNA Mian Javed Latif; DIG Akbar Nasir and Additional IG Ali Aamir.

The briefing was attended by Deputy Prosecutor General Accountability (DPGA) and senior officers of NAB.
Chairman directed during the course of briefing that the directives of honourable courts should be implemented in tatality and all cases should be taken to logical conclusion.
He directed to the investigators and prosecutors to increase their bilateral coordination and complete the investigations of all cases on scientific basis so that the cases could be concluded at the earliest, besides recovering the looted amount from the corrupt elements.
Chairman said NAB investigated about the looted amount from the sacred cows. NAB has determined its goal of achieving the target of corruption free Pakistan.
The chairman said the bureau has no affiliation with any political party, group or individual but only with Pakistan. He atgued the bureau believes in performing its duties in accordance with law of the land.No duress or pressure could impede the bureau from performing its duties.
NAB has performed its duties in accordance with law during the current year in its resources. We are trying best to improve the performance of the bureau. Appreciating the performance of Lahore bureau, chairman said the role of Lahore bureau is very important in the overall performance of the NAB.
