ISLAMABAD : October 16,2022:. A court of district and session in Islamabad on Sunday extended physical remand of Pakistan Tekreek e Insaf (PTI) leader, Azam Khan Swati, for another day.
Judicial magistrate , Shoab Akhtar , extended physical remand of Azam Khan Swati till Monday and ordered to the Islamabad police to produce the accused Azam Khan Swati before the court on Monday again.
Prosecutor ,Raja Rizwan Abbasi , read out the sarcastic tweet of the accused Azam Khan Swati wherein he “Congratulated” COAS Bajwa, and some ‘Others’, ‘claiming their plan to get the thieves free was working to the best of their plan.
Azam Khan Swati, whose character is dubious, had tried to malign the top military leadership on the release of prime minister , Shahbaz Sharif, and his son Hamza Shahbaz in money laundering case.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had arrested Azam Swati from his house in Islamabad for his sarcastic tweet against the key state institution.
Azam Khan Swati is a US national and wanted in that country for committing a financial scam .
Azam Swati’s rant againt army chief and some ‘others’ is of deep consequences .
The Islamabad police pleaded before the court that the accused was needed for investigation as the phone used by him for his tweet was yet to be recovered .
The counsel for Azam Khan Swati opposed further physical remand of the accused and argued that his client was brutally tortured in the police custody .
The court after hearing the arguments of the parties extended physical remand of the accused for another day
The court directed to the police to produce Azam Khan Swati before it on Monday .
