CSB postponement sparks widespread discontent: Officers demand justice

ISLAMABAD – In a move that has sent shockwaves across the country, the long-awaited Central Selection Board (CSB) has been postponed once again, this time for an indefinite period.

This marks the third time in recent months that officers have been left waiting for the crucial Board, leading to widespread frustration and despair among the affected individuals and their families.

While speculation about the reasons for the delay is rife, many are pointing fingers at the growing instability and lack of cohesion within the ruling coalition government. Sources suggest that the delay is a result of infighting, mutual distrust, and incompetence among the government’s coalition partners, preventing the timely execution of critical administrative processes.

However, a more concerning explanation has emerged. Some insiders believe that the postponement is due to certain high-ranking officers being sent for SMC and NMC trainings, with the hope that the Board could be held once these officers return early next year.

This scenario is being viewed as even more troubling than the first, as it raises questions about fairness and the prioritization of select individuals. Critics argue that the continuous cycle of promotions for the favored few undermines the rights of senior officers who have been waiting for their turn for over two years. The delay has affected over 400 officers and their families, who have expressed their deep dissatisfaction with the situation.

In a powerful statement, they have called on Prime Minister, President Asif Zardari, and Chief of Army Staff General Asif Munir to intervene and address this serious injustice.

The officers are demanding the immediate convening of the CSB, urging that their rights, earned through years of dedicated service, be honored in the larger national interest.

As the country watches, the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the CSB threatens to undermine the morale of senior officers who have dedicated themselves to the nation. With many now questioning the transparency and fairness of the process, the demand for immediate action has never been more urgent.
