KARACH, November 19, 2024: Defense Minister Khawaja Asif said on Tuesday that the International Defense Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS) 2024 would significantly contribute to strengthening Pakistan’s defense industry.
Speaking at the inaugural session of the event, held at the Expo Centre in Karachi, the minister welcomed foreign delegates and guests, encouraging them to take full advantage of the exhibition.
The opening ceremony was attended by the three services chiefs.
Asif emphasized that the theme of this year’s exhibition, “Arms for Peace,” aligns with Pakistan’s commitment to being a peace-loving nation and its belief in resolving conflicts through dialogue.

The minister also highlighted the growth of Pakistan’s defense industry, stating that both the public and private sectors have key roles to play in enhancing defense production.
He further noted that the export of defense equipment would help strengthen the national economy.
Asif described IDEAS 2024 as a “regional gateway,” stressing that promoting connectivity is essential for regional peace and socio-economic development.
More than 550 exhibitors from around the world are showcasing a wide range of locally manufactured defense products at the event.

This year’s IDEAS marks its 12th edition and will run for four days.
It features an extensive display of modern and traditional defense equipment, weapon systems, and vehicles. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was scheduled to formally open the exhibition.
IDEAS 2024 is a key initiative of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), which is focused on increasing exports, including defense equipment.
Meanwhile, stringent security measures have been put in place for the event. Roads leading to the Expo Centre have been closed, and traffic from Shahrah-e-Faisal to the venue will be suspended from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Karachi Traffic Police have issued a traffic plan to manage congestion during the exhibition.
