ISLAMABAD: At a rare 8-hour long briefing to political leadership of Pakistan, the military leadership came up with a clear message that it was high time for them to think twice before uttering any words on national issues as Pakistan is passing through the most significant and risky time of its history.
‘Every single utterance by any responsible person matters and it can cost Pakistan huge if its without any proper evaluation or purpose”, Army chief, Qamar Javed Bajwa, was quoted as saying during the security briefing to the parliamentarians the other day.
The message from the military leadership is without any ambiguity. It tells the political forces in clear terms that they have to stay away from any move meant to create a divide among masses for political or other gains.
Reliable source told NEWSMAN that the army chief, tuned to Ali Wazir of PDM for asking him if he ever went to see any family whose son sacrificed life in fight with terrorists?.
“Before pointing figures at the armed forces do go to see any family which offered life of young son for Pakistan”, the army chief told Ali Wazir MNA of PDM which is opponent to use of force in Waziristan areas.
The military leadership also came up with clear strategy on Kashmir, Pak-US-China relationship and post withdrawal US scenario in Afghanistan.
The army chief also came up on Kashmir issue without any formality. He said “We are hearing some smear campaign from some political elements claiming selling of Kashmir to India.
“What does it mean when a politician stands- up in public and start claiming of having Kashmir sold to India by the government”, the army chief was quoted as saying.
The military leadership conveyed to the parliamentarians that smear campaign initiated by some dejected politicians was damaging Pakistan’s interests and it was time to discourage such elements.
The briefing to parliamentarians on security issues was a great move and it served the purpose very well. It provided a good opportunity to the opposition to have an indepth discussion with top military leadership on issues of national importance besides having a clear idea as to what Pakistan is going to do to protect its interests in and out of Pakistan in new strategic world.
The military leadership also made it clear to the parliamentarians that Pakistan is for peace and not for war on any country in any form. It vowed that Pakistan, as asserted by prime minister, Imran Khan, in his interview to an American TV network a few weeks ago, will not give its airbases to US for any purpose including droning inside Afghanistan from its soil.
Pakistan has taken a cautious position on post -US withdrawal scenario in Afghanistan and it will follow the same strategy to
protect its interest in that country . It, however, has given to US and other forces that Pakistan is for peace and it will support any move from any country to have peace in Afghanistan.
