Islamabad : Dec 10: The Indian lobby backed by its media known for hostilities has sprang -up to use the case of M/s Pharmix Laboratories (Pvt ) Limited Lahore for a vicious campaign against Pakistan’s pharmaceutical industry .
Recent developments suggest that the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) moved much before the World Health Organisation (WHO) alert to take action to recall all contaminated batches of the syrup made by M/s Pharmix (Pvt) Limited to ensure health safety of the public at large . However , unaware of DRAP action in this case , Indian media launched a massive campaign to malign Pakistan’s pharma industry by using the case of M/s Pharmix Laboratories ( Pvt ) Limited Lahore,
Indian media rushed to flash WHO alert issued to stop sale of contaminated products of the syrup made and exported by Pakistani company. WHO had issued an alert to concerned Pakistani authorities just one week ago asking them to recall the contaminated batches of syrup, However , DRAP had already followed a professional approach in this case and issued directions to M/s Pharmix Laboratories (Pvt) Limited Lahore to immediately recall all batches which were suspected of having contamination. DRAP authorities had also issued instructions to entire chain of supply to immediately recall the contaminated batches of the syrup . It also instructed to the distributors and medical practitioners to have strict monitoring to ensure that contaminated batches of the syrup are not available in the market of Pakistan. It may be noted that WHO alert also appreciated DRAP for taking timely action to recall contaminated batches of the syrup. WHO official had also appreciated Maldives and Australia for detecting impurities in the cough syrup prepared and exported by M/s Pharmix Laboratories Limited Lahore. However, at the same time WHO acknowledged that no human loss has been reported in any country due to the use of the syrup manufactured by Pakistani company.
Indian lobby ‘s massive campaign to target Pakistan’s pharma industry seems as an aim at hushing up the cases of contaminated syrups made and exported by Indian pharma industries to dozens of countries that caused hundreds of deaths in different countries.
Noor Mahar , President Pakistan Lawyers and Pharmacists Association spoke to NEWSMAN on the issue . He finds Indian lobby behind M/s Pharmix Laboratories (Pvt) Limited Lahore’s case . Mr Noor recalled that a few months ago , hundreds of deaths were reported by half a dozen countries for using contaminated syrups prepared and exported by 50 Indian pharma companies and now the Indian lobby is trying to target Pakistan’s pharma industry by maligning M/s Pharmix Laboratories (Pvt) Limited’s syrup case. He said “I want to add to my views that in the case of M/s Pharmix Laboratories (Pvt) Limited Lahore , DRAP took timely and prompt action to recall all batches of contaminated syrup to avoid any risk to human lives”.
