ECP accepts PMlLN plea; orders recounting in NA 249

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has accepted plea of the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) and ordered recounting of polled votes in the constituency on May 6, 2021.

PMLN candidate, Mifta Ismael, had filed a petition before the ECP for recounting of votes in NA 249, Karachi..

The ECP had held by poll in NA 249 Karachi on April 29, 2021.

PPP candidate, Abdul Qadir Mandokhel, had won the election in the constituency with thin margin of 683 votes.

PMLN had expressed serious reservations over the win of PPP candidate in NA 249 and taken the case with the ECP for recounting of polled votes.

The ECP while announcing the decision of recounting here on Tuesday asked all political parties which contested by poll in NA 249 on April 29, 2021 to be present in the office of the returning officer to monitor reco7ntimg of votes.

PMLN leadership expressed jubliation over the ECP’s decision of recounting of polled votes in NA 249 Karachi.

PMLN senior vice president, Maryam Nawaz, called the ECP decision a good development in her tweet and hoped recounting will bring the decision in PMLN favour.
