Empowering Pakistani Youth: China-Pakistan Technical Education Center

Islamabad: At the Belt and Road Digital Education Development Forum, the China-Pakistan Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET)-Industrial Center of Excellence was unveiled.

The coming year will prioritize 15 key disciplines, such as IoT, automation, textile, big data, engineering, etc., to train more Pakistani young in Chinese language and practical skills.

It will be implemented with a digital curriculum that is established complying with a set of standards that have been collectively developed, and teachers will receive training to improve their vocational expertise, according to China Economic Net (CEN).

The establishment of industry-specific committees in food, textiles, and resources and the environment is anticipated to provide students with outstanding internship and job possibilities in these fields, promoting Pakistan’s economic growth and collaboration.

Mr. Ammar Muhammad, Secretary General of China Pakistan International Industrial Academic Integration Alliance, said, “This move comes in line with the desire for talent by Chinese companies investing in Pakistan and by local companies as well which are catching up with the tide of industrial upgrade.”

By offering vocational training in different industries, including agriculture, information, health, and energy, the partnership has drawn the involvement of more than 80 businesses in China and Pakistan with more than 300 universities and colleges.

The TVET-Industrial Center’s first-year plan calls for eight smart Chinese language centers in addition to skill development. Liaoning Petrochemical College will assist the first one, which was announced during the conference.

Since 2021, China and Pakistan have been expanding their collaboration in vocational education.

Training in artificial intelligence, cloud computing, graphic design, cybersecurity, data analytics, machine learning, and game development was made available to local youth in Lahore earlier this year through the opening of the first IT City of Pakistan, established through bilateral cooperation.
