Islamabad : Pakistan lost its crucial match of Super 8 to England played at Pallekele Cricket Stadium in Sri Lanka on Tuesday.
Pakistan won the toss and opted to bat first . Its team could score 165 runs in allotted 20 overs. Sahabzada Farhan was the only bat who challenged English bowlers . Other Pakistani batters could hardly make any considerable contribution to Pakistan’s score.
England achieved the target of 166 runs with 5 balls to go for 8 wickets. English captain Herry Brook played a wonderful inning and scored a century off 50 balls only . Pakistan ‘s slow batting and lethargic fielding made easy for England to have a win against Pakistan.
With Tuesday ‘s defeat, Pakistan lost fifth match of T20 to England in a row. England dashed into semi final with Tuesday ‘s win.
The entire responsibility of losing Tuesday’s key match of the T20 world cup 2026 to England lies on Salman Ali Agha who even after one year as captain is yet to find which player he needs to assign which number of batting . He himself is yet groping to search for his appropriate number in Pakistan’s lineup. Second , the management which is loving to have Babar Azam in Pakistan’s playing XI despite his numrious poor performance in the last six months is responsible for Tuesday ‘s defeat against England .
It seems that Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is giving role to team Pakistan to play international tournaments just for the sake of the play . It has no planning or desire to win in big tournaments like T20 world cup or Asia Cup Cricket Trophy.
Babar Azam’s selection to play at number 3 despite his continuous failure in making any match-winning performance shows that PCB and its officials are least interested in Pakistan’s win in any major cricket event such as T20 world cup.
Salman Agha’s poor captaincy is simply adding to Pakistan’s poor performance in the international competition. Can PCB and coaches give any logic and reason of Salman Agha playing at number 2? . By promoting himself to number 2 in batting order Salman Agha is simply bringing shame and humiliation to Pakistan.
After Tuesday’s poor batting performance of big names like Salman Agha and Babar Azam, one can hardly expect that the selected team Pakistan is capable enough to qualify for semi final of T20 world cup 2026.
