Jeddah (Saudi Arabia): A grand farewell dinner was hosted by Fazal Memon, Senior Vice President of the Pakistan Investors Forum and a prominent businessman and social figure, in honor of PIA Country Manager Jan Mohammad Mehr, marking the successful completion of his tenure in Saudi Arabia and his return to Pakistan upon promotion.
The event was graced by office-bearers of the Investors Forum, PIA staff, and numerous well-known figures from the Pakistani community residing in Saudi Arabia.
In his welcome address, Fazal Memon paid rich tribute to Jan Mohammad Mehr for his outstanding services, stating that he played a pivotal role in improving PIA’s services in Saudi Arabia, which led to a significant enhancement in the airline’s performance. He extended his heartfelt congratulations on Mr. Mehr’s promotion and wished him continued success in the future.
In his farewell speech, Jan Mohammad Mehr expressed his deep appreciation for the love and respect he received during his time in Saudi Arabia. He stated:
> “My heart doesn’t want to part from this sacred land, but the call of duty must be honored.”
He highlighted key accomplishments during his tenure, including the launch of PIA flights to Al-Qassim, Abha, and other cities, with plans to commence service from Taif in the near future. He emphasized that Saudi Arabia accounts for 50% of PIA’s revenue, and that the airline’s current service level is significantly better than its competitors.
In response to a question, he remarked:
> “The transition of PIA into a private limited company will further enhance its operational performance.”
Among the distinguished guests were Chaudhry Shafqat Mehmood, President of the Pakistan Investors Forum; Chaudhry Azhar Abbas Warraich, former Advisor to the Chief Minister of Punjab; Syed Riaz Bukhari, Convener of the Pakistan National Unity Forum; Masood Ahmed Puri, Patron-in-Chief of PML-N; Chairman Chaudhry Akram Gujar, Faisal Tahir Khan, Chaudhry Afzal Jutt, Sharif-ul-Zaman, Ibrahim Ahmed Balochi, and many other notable personalities.
All attendees praised Jan Mohammad Mehr’s exemplary contributions to PIA and offered their sincere congratulations and best wishes for his future endeavors.
The event concluded with a cultural tribute, where Fazal Memon presented traditional Sindhi shawls to Jan Mohammad Mehr and Chaudhry Shafqat Mehmood in recognition of Sindh’s rich heritage. The gesture was warmly received and appreciated by all present. Fazal Memon also expressed his gratitude to the guests for their participation and support in making the event a success.
