KALAR KAHAR : June 17,2023: A Lahore bound bus met a fatal accident at Kalar Kahar salt range on Saturday, leaving at least 12 passengers dead and many others injured.
The bus has left from Islamabad for Lahore and had a deadly accident when it reached at Kalar Kahar salt range at around 6 PM. The injured were immediately shifted to nearby hospitals in Chakwal by 1122 rescuers.
The officials of Lahore-Islamabad Motorway also rushed to the accident site to oversee rescue operation. According to an eyewitness , the accident took place apparently due to brake failure of the bus .
The bus also hit a private vehicle and damaged it before falling down in a ravine in Kalar Kahar salt region . The ratio of fatal accident at Kalar Kahar salt range in the last a few months .
In February last a bus carrying wedding party had met a fatal accident in Kalar Kahar range , causing huge loss of human lives. Although , Motorway police check up the public vehicles before entering into dangerous salt range but the rise in accidents to public transports indicates that the check up is only restricted to issuance of a chit which the drivers of public vehicles hand over to the Motorway police at post situated soon after the salt range . After repeated fatal accidents in Kalar Kahar region , Motorway police should make road safety check up report mandatory .
