Formal announcement on ISI chief appointment in a day or two. Shaikh Rashid

ISLAMABAD. Interior minister, Shaikh Rashid Ahmad, on Friday said a formal announcement for appointment of Inter Services Intellegence ( ISI) chief was likely in a fay or two.

He said the issue of new DG ISI was almost over and its announcement is likely either on Saturday or Monday next. He was speaking to media at a press conference here. He added in some cases only prime minister , Imran Khan, could reply. Shaikh Rashid’s statement may clear the dust over the issue faced with Pakistani nation for the last one week.
The government is trying to clarify position over appointment of the new DG ISI.

Prime minister, Imran Khan, himself had spoken the other day that there was nothing to worry about as the issue was about to resolve amicably. Foreign minister , Shah Mahmood Qureshi, and Interior minister, Shaikh Rashid Ahmad, also issued statements to show to the people of Pakistan that they were in the race of those who were engaged in finding out some amicable solution to the thorny issue.

Information minister, Fawad Chaudhary had re-confirmed two days ago that the consultation between prime minister, Imran Khan, and army chief, Qamar Javed Bajwa, had completed and procedure for appointment of director general Inter Services intelligence (ISI) was underway.
A couple of days ago, the information minister had told a cabinet briefing related press conference the government would follow legal and constitutional course for appointment of new DG ISI. He had also noted the appointment of DG ISI was a prerogative of the prime minister. The nation is in a shock and groping for the answer to this question as to what compelled the PTI government to drag a sensitive matter of new DG ISI appointment to the public.
