ISLAMABAD :. August 4,2022. The federal cabinet has given a go ahead to Interior ministry to take action including arrests of those who were involved in operation of fake accounts of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) accounts identified by the Election Commission Of Pakistan (ECP) in its ruling in foreign funding case
The Interior minister is going to order the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to investigate all charcters of the PTI fake accounts and take action against each of them .
The PTI leaders who , according to the government claims , were operating the fake accounts of the party, included president , Arif Alvi, former speaker national assembly, Asad Qaiser , former deputy speaker national assembly , Qasim Suri , senator Saif Khan Niazi , who is a close relative of Imran Khan, Amir Kalyani , PTI secretary general and a close confident of Imran Khan and at least half a dozen employees of PTI who were directly monitoring party accounts.
The federal cabinet which met here on Thursday with prime minister , Shahbaz Sharif , in the chair , also decided to send a declaration to the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) for banning of PTI as a political party in the light of ECP ruling .
The federal government is also mulling seriously to take action against Imran Khan in the light of ECP ruling in foreign funding case .
ECP had declared PTI funding unlawful and reported the sources from which PTI got funding between 2008 and 2012.
The ECP has a number of serious allegations against PTI and it may face bad days in coming months
Interior minister, Rana Sanaullah later told a private media channel that the government will take action against PTI in the light of ECP ruling and the action is being taken under Political Act ,2002.
Rana Sanaullah claimed that president , Arif Alvi, was also among accused who operated fake accounts of PTI . He demanded that Arif Alvi after ECP report should resign as president of Pakistan and face inquiry being launched against him by FIA and other investigation agencies .
Interior minister , Rana Sanaullah said the government has decided to investigate PTI funding that it received between 2013 to mid 2022.
Earlier, Maryam Aurangzeb , had briefed media on the decisions taken by the federal cabinet on Thursday. She said the federal cabinet has given a go ahead to FIA and FBR investigate PTI fake accounts and take action against all those who were involved in this crime.
