Islamabad, Federal Minister for Power, Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, has taken strict notice of poor performance in ongoing projects of the National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC). Following a performance review meeting, the NTDC Board has removed several senior officials from their positions due to negligence and unwarranted delays.
According to official sources, the action includes the removal of a Deputy Managing Director, two General Managers, a Chief Financial Officer, and three Chief Engineers. These officers have been placed in the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) pool and relieved of their current roles.
The decision comes days after the Federal Minister chaired a review meeting to assess the progress of NTDC’s ongoing and future projects. During the meeting, he expressed serious concerns over delays and emphasized the importance of accountability. He instructed the NTDC Board to immediately conduct an inquiry and identify those responsible for the setbacks.
Minister Leghari stressed a policy of zero tolerance for delays in national infrastructure projects, noting that such inefficiencies cost the country billions of rupees. He urged the board to ensure all projects are completed within their timelines.
In response, the NTDC Board discussed company performance and resolved to implement strategic reforms aimed at addressing longstanding organizational weaknesses in planning and execution. Based on ground realities, the Board concluded that the company’s Planning Wing—led by the Deputy Managing Director, two General Managers, and the CFO—was primarily responsible for the lapses and issued orders for their immediate removal.
Additionally, three Chief Engineers were also dismissed from their current posts due to negligence in their duties. The Managing Director has been given a two-week deadline to assess the responsibility of other personnel, including managers and deputy managers, and take necessary disciplinary action.
