Final countdown begins for 2024 elections

Punjab deputes army for election duties

Islamabad : Feb 6,2024 : On the last day of conveyancing, top leadership of Pakistan’s political parties made desperate efforts to woo as many as voters to win 2024 elections . Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) chief , Nawaz Sharif , and his younger brother , Shahbaz Sharif roared in Kasur to address the last public rally of 2024 elections . They promised to their supporters and voters that PMLN has a magic band to address issues like price-hike , rising utility costs , unemployment and so on so forth . New leader of PMLN, Maryam Nawaz also tried to show her concern for the burning issues in her address to Kasur rally .

Pakistan People Party (PPP) chief , Balawal Bhutto , preferred to address the election rally at his hometown in Larkana . He advised Sharifs not to indulge in any unlawful act to demean his party workers in Lahore . Balawal Bhutto is also contesting from NA 117 Lahore . PPP chief mocked Sharifs saying ‘ Entire Sharif family is on the Lahore roads but there is no one to welcome them”. He repeated his mantra of old politicians for Sharifs .

Maulana Fazalur Rehman of JUI addressed his last rally at his hometown in Dera Ismael Khan (DI Khan) . He criticised Imran Khan and called him a foreign tout. Awami National Party (ANP) chief, Aimal Wali, addressed his last election rally in Peshawar . He challenged JUI and other opponent parties and claimed that his party is going to win the elections.

MQM Pakistan held its last rally in its stronghold in Karachi and criticised PPP for its failure in Sindh in general and in Karachi in particular. Since the election campaigns period is over , the candidates will have contacts with voters in personal capacities . In 2024 elections , 18117.candidates are in the run.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued a code for election day. It advices the voters and candidates to avoid any violation to ensure smooth voting on the election day. ECP is taking extra ordinary security measures on polling day to ensure safety and security of the voters and staff applied to conduct elections .

Meanwhile , the Punjab has deputed the army troop for election duties.
