Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, participated in a fireside chat at the Atlantic Council on “Challenges and Opportunities for the Pakistani Economy through 2025 and Beyond.”
A media update released here by Fiance Division on Tuesday said the Minister highlighted the reforms being undertaken by the government to broaden the tax base, including end-to-end digitalization of FBR, increasing the role of provinces in tax collection, and the first-ever legislation on Agriculture Income Tax by the provinces.
He underscored the existential challenges of climate and population, highlighting that four out of six outcomes under the 10-year Country Partnership Framework (CPF) of the World Bank for Pakistan dealt with these issues.
The Minister also informed that the government was committed to the inaugural launch of Panda Bond.
He appreciated the reforms in multilateral institutions for a coordinated approach to risk analysis and due diligence.
The Minister further informed that the Government wanted to engage constructively with the US Government to address the trade imbalance, with a high-level delegation expected to visit the US in this regard.
