THATHA: A large number of fishermen and their families staged a protest at Mukli Park here against banning on fishing and reduction in buyer companies. The protestors chanted slogans against imposing ban on fishing and reduction of buyer companies.
Those who led the protest included Dada Adam Gundro, Ashraf Malah, Yar M Jokio, Jani Shoro, Abdul Karim, Allah Bux Mirani, Amir Malah, Ramzan Malah, Siddiq and Haider Samoo. The leaders of the fishermen community addressed the protest and said the fishermen community was living on fishing for decades and the recent action of Marine Fishries Department of imposing ban on fishing and catching of aquatic.life has made their lives miserable. The leaders of fishermen community said the action of Marine Fisheries Department of putting ban on fishing for small fishermen has put the survival of fishermen community at risk. They demanded of the government to reverse ban on fishing in sea waters by small fisherman . The speakers also called for compensation for fishermen for the loss they incurred due to ban on fishing by Marine Fisheries Department.
