Bristol, 10 October 2023: Chairman of the International Human Rights Movement and UN observer Rana Basharat Ali Khan has expressed his concern over the growing tension and humanitarian crisis in Israel and the occupied Palestinian territory and the violation of human rights by Israel.
The worsening situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territories and Israel is alarming. As Chairman of the International Human Rights Movement and UN Observer, I express my deep concern at the devastating consequences and loss of human life in the ongoing conflict.
Hundreds of Palestinians, including men, women and children, have tragically lost their lives, while thousands are injured. Scores are being held captive, exposing their health to dangers. The crisis is increasing with thousands of rockets and indiscriminate bombardment on Palestinian land, Palestine has been besieged, there is a severe shortage of food and medicine, internet service has been suspended and people engaged in relief operations and journalistic activities have also been killed and injured. This is creating an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty for the civilian population and endangering the lives of millions of Palestinians. are
In densely populated Gaza, the situation is even worse, with hundreds of people killed and thousands injured as a result of indiscriminate and intense bombardment. Homes, health centers and schools needed to shelter displaced families have been mercilessly targeted. The entire city is now under siege, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis.
My message to all parties involved in this fight is clear:
Adherence to the laws of war is essential.
Hostages should be treated with the utmost humaneness,
And the hostages must be released immediately
In order to reduce the suffering of the families. During hostilities, the protection of civilians and civilian infrastructure is paramount, allowing individuals to seek refuge in safe areas.
What is important is that humanitarian aid and essential services to Gaza should not face obstacles. Withholding such aid further exacerbates the suffering of the Palestinian population and is in violation of UN law and exacerbates the challenges they already face.
The entire Middle East region stands at a critical juncture, we appeal that further violence must stop now. I call for an immediate ceasefire and for all parties to prioritize peace, uphold human rights and work collaboratively to find a lasting solution to the problems of all affected communities and in accordance with UN resolutions. I am
