KARACHI: Businessman Panel (BMP) has won all seats in the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) elctions 2022 held here on Thursday.
BMP’s Irfan Iqbal Shaikh defeated Dr Noman Idrees Butt for FPCCI president seat. BMP also won the seats of senior vice president. Its Salman Chawla got victory over UBG candidate by a big margin . BMP also bagged all seats of vice presidents. its third win of BMP in the FPCCI elections in a row. BMP has been defeating United Business Group (UBG) since 2019.
For president ,it was one-on-one contest between Irfan Iqbal Shaikh of BMP and Dr Noman Idrees Butt of United UBG. Both sides had worked hard to get majority in FPCCI contest for FPCCI top slot and each one of them claimed of winning the elections 2022.
The FPCCI elections have always been a tough contest as it’s a prime business representative body and it matters in government working. Its leadership is given due consideration by the government in its policy making and other key decisions relating to industry and businesses in Pakistan. Since 2019, BMP is taking the lead. Its chairman, Anjum Nisar has emerged as a moving spirit to defeat once very popular group.
Around 400 FPCCI members voted for president, senior vice president and 11 vice presidents. Third consecutive win of BMP has put a question mark on the leaderahip of UBG. Its a major setback and a matter of concern for UBG leaders.
After winning all seats of FPCCI , BMP leadership Mian Anjum Nisar and newly elected Irfan Iqbal Shaikh and Salman Chawla thanked all the voters of FPCCI in their speeches, and vowed to work for the entire business and industrialists of Pakistan. The called the success of BMP in FPCCI elections 2022 as a win of every small and big businessman and vowed to use their energies for resolving problems beimg faced by the business community of Pakistan.
