ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) raised serious questions over authenticity of affidavit submitted by former chief justice Gilgit Baltistan , Rana Shamim, wherein he on oath had levelled serious allegations against former chief justice of Pakistan, Saqib Nisar.
IHC started hearing into the case on Tuesday. Except, Rana Shamim all other parties who were served notices for November 16, 2021 were present before the court. IHC chief justice, Athar Minallah, put various questions to those who were present in the court . Rana Shamim’s son , Ahmad Hasan advocate appeared before the court to defend his father , Rana Shamim.
During the hearing, IHC CJ observed that apparently the affidavit submitted by Rana Shamim seems fake. The court after initial hearing adjourn the case for November 26, 2021.
In an affidavit submitted before the court , Rana Shamim had claimed that former chief justice of Pakistan (CJP), Saqib Nisar, had given directions to a judge of Islamabad High Court (IHC) from his official residence in Gilgit Baltistan during his one visit not to grant bail to Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) supremo, Nawaz Sharif and his daughter, Maryam Nawaz till general elections were held in 2018.
The NEWS and its sister organisation daily JANG had published a story on the issue in its Monday’s edition. Ansaar Abbasi, the author of the story, had quoted an affidavit duly signed by the former chief justice of Gilgit Baltistan.
