KARACHI: Amid physical brawl and shouting at each other, Sindh assembly on Saturday passed local bodies bill 2021.
With the start of the session, opposition in the Sindh assembly started to protest, calling the bill for local bodies elections as a black law. Soon after, the opposition members started to litter copies of the bill in the air in protest against the legislation.
The opposition members protest turned ugly when some of the members gathered in front of the speaker dais to protest against some provisions of the bill. Seeing getting the opposition members close to the speaker dais, the ruling Pakistan People Party (PPP) members also dashed in apparently to defend the speaker from any untowards incident. This created a stormy situation in the House.
Both, the treasury and opposition tangled with each other without noting that the session was going live on air.
Som members from both the opposition and treasury used abusive language on the floor of the House. The
opposition leader in Sindh assembly called the local bodies bill 2021 as a black law and announced to resist it in and out of the assembly. Chief minister, Murad Ali Shah, made extraordinary emotioal speach. He hit the joint opposition below the belt in his address and claimed that the real problem in Sindh assembly was that the opposition was imcompetent , senseless and illitrate. His these harsh remarks added fuel to fire . Amid these unruly seens, the speaker presented the bill for voting that led to its passage without any debate on it.
