ISLAMABAD: The government has changed its mind and decided not to call back Lieutenant General (R), Bilal Akbar as Pakistan’s embassador to Saudi Arabia.
Lieutenant General (R), Bilal Akbar, is currently serving as Pakistan’s envoy to Saudi Arabia. In recent past, prime minister, Imran Khan , has made- up his mind for replacing Bilal Akbar with a carear diplomat, Khurrum Rathore, who is currently serving in Canada as Pakistan’s envoy.
Sources said the prime minister was considering to call back General Bilal Akbar from Saudi Arabia and give him assignment of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman. However, now the prime minister in the second thought has decided not to call back General Bilal Akbar from Saudi Arabia.
General Bilall Akbar is playing a vibrant role in boosting up Pak-Saudi relations and at the same time actively taking care off of Pakistani community in Saudi Arabia. He has taken initiative of taking up the case of those Pakistani nationals who are linguishing in Saudi jails for years. He also took a number of initiatives to ensure returning of Pakistanis who were in Pakistan on leave and had valid visas, but were unable to return to their duty in Saudi Arabia during COVID-19 pandemic. He also participates in almost every event organised in Saudi Arabia by Pakistani community. Pakistanis working in Saudi Arabia get good response when they enter into Pakistan’s embassy in Riyadh or Pakistani counsulate in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
“We see Gen Bilal Akbbar as a real vibrant ambassador of Pakistan to Saudi Arabia as he is always available to Pakistanis for any need”, Noor ul Hasan, a Pakistani serving in Saudi Arabia said in his telephonic conversation with NEWSMAN and Daily Danishwar.
