Islamabad : February 15, 2024 : In a statement issued here on Thursday , Lt. General (Retd ) Faiz Hameed , has categorically denied that he had any meeting with Jamiat e Ulema Islam Fazal (JUI-F) chief , Maulana Fazalur Rehman , on the issue of no confidence moved in 2022 against then prime minister , Imran Khan .
Lt. General (Retd ) Faiz Hameed , in his statement reminded to JUI chief Maulana Fazalur Rehman that his accusations against him that he (Faiz Hameed ) met him during no confidence move to convey him a strategy for early dismissal of Imran Khan as prime minister was a concocted and false claim. He added that JUI-F chief has forgotten that in the days when a no confidence motion was tabled in the national assembly against Imran Khan he had already left for Peshawar to discharge duty as crop commander. Lt. General (Retd) further said in his statement that he left his assignment in Islamabad and join the new assignment in Peshawar on November 21 , 2021.
He suggested to JUI-F not to distort facts in this case just for getting political mileage. Lt General (Retd) Faiz Hameed also denied that he was a part of any plan with ex -COAS , Qamar Javed Bajwa , for pushing no confidence motion to dislodge PTI rule . Maulana Fazalur Rehman had claimed in his TV interview on Thursday that Lt. General (Retd) , Faiz Hameed , was in contact with PDM for pushing up a no confidence motion against Imran Khan in 2022. PDM had filed a no confidence motion against Imran Khan in March 2022 and Maulana Fazalur Rehman was an active part of the PDM plan . Now after losing national assembly elections he has opened up a hard -hitting campaign against the state institutions .
In a bid rn appease Imran Khan. ,Maulana accused ex- COAS Qamar Bajwa and Lt General Faiz Hameed of playing a part in no confidence motion that ended Imran Khan rule in April 2022.
