ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Finance has revealed that it has collected Rs 338 billions in taxes from mobile phone users over five years.
Deputy Speaker Ghulam Mustafa Shah chaired the National Assembly meeting in which the details of tax collection from mobile users were presented.
The Ministry of Finance, while placing the details of tax collection from consumers before the House, said that 3 trillion 38 billion rupees were collected from mobile users during the last five years.
According to the documents, 50 billion in 2020, 55 billion in 2021 were taken as advance tax from consumers. Similarly, 61 billion tax was collected on phone balance in 2022 and 80 billion in 2023, while 92 billion rupees were collected from users in the form of advance tax during the financial year 2024.
The Ministry of Finance expected that exports are likely to reach 33 billion dollars in the fiscal year 2025, while remittances are estimated to reach 33 billion 50 billion dollars.
According to the officials, a total increase of 8.5 billion dollars is expected in the IT sector and IT exports are likely to reach 4.20 billion dollars this fiscal year.
