ISLAMABAD: Despite massive reduction of $ 10 in the price of crude oil in the international market, the government on Tuesday decided to maintain the current rates of petroleum products for next two weeks.
The Finance ministry has issued a notification, confirming to keep the oil rates unchanged for the next 15 days for domestic market.
The government had been revising the oil prices upward on the basis of surge in the rates of crude oil in the global market, but it denied relief to the commutors when its rates dropped considerably in the last one month in the international market.
The crude oil prices had dropped by 16 % in the international market in the last one month. The government which keeps on making claims of bringing change for good in the lives of common Pakistanis did not pass on the benefit of lowering prices to the petroleum products to the end consumers.
“The government basically defrauded the people by keeping the oil prices unchanged when its rates reduced in global market”, said Ali Ahmad Khan, a cab owner in his comments on the government decision of maintaining the oil prices for next 15 days.
Tariq Nafees, a government employee, also termed the government decision of not reducing oil prices locally proportionate to the international market as a day-light docaity .
