IDLAMABAD: The government has constituted a cell to probe Pandora Papers scam here on Monday.
The decision of forming a cell to investigate the Pandora Papers scandal was probably taken after high level consultative meeting presided over prime.minister, Imran Khan here.
Soon after release of Pandora Papers by International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) , the prime minister had announced to punish all those who would be found involved in hiding their assets and accumulating ill-gotton money.
Over 700 Pakistanis have been named in Pandora Papers for messing up money and parking it in off- shore companies. The cell constituted to investigate Pandora Papers scam will be assisted by Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
The cell according to a tweet of Information minister, Fawad Hussain Chaudhary, will summon all those Pakistanis whose names have appeared in Pandora Papers and would investigate them .
Though the government took prompt action to form a cell to probe the Pandora Papers scam , but the past history suggests the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) government never took any cell, commission or committee seriously to help them reach to the bottom of the matters. The PTI government made several commissions to investigate matters bigger than Pandora Papers
, but their outcome remained either unknown to the public or zero. The same government had created hype in sugar scam and then in oil shortage crisis, but there was zero outcome of the investigations carried out in these matters. Keeping the fact and history of over three years of PTI government in view, there is very little hope that Pandora Papers scam will reach to any logical conclusion.
