Islamabad : Despite sever criticism over depriving commuters of lowering prices in the international market , Sharif government has adjusted rates of petroleum rates for the next fortnight . The new rates of petroleum products will remain effective from April 1 to 15.
According to a notification of the Finance Division issued here on Friday night , petrol prices have been reduced by Rs one . It slashed price of one litre of petrol from Rs 255.63 to Rs 254.63. No change has been made in the rates of high speed diesel and its current price of Rs 258.64 will continue for the next 15 days . The prices of kerosin has been scaled up by Rs 1.26 per liter . Its new rates have been fixed at Rs 169.38 per litre.
The rates of brunt have gone down to below $ 70 per barrel and as per agreed pricing formula , the prices of petroleum products should have gone down considerably in Pakistan . But Sharif government preferred raising levy on petroleum products to meet International Monetary Fund ‘s conditions . Its depriving the commuters of rightful relief . The commuters are criticizing the policy of the government to prefer IMF demands over giving them relief in the rates of the petroleum products.
