ISLAMABAD: Nay 7, 2024: The Shahbaz government on Monday withdrew an order issued for compulsory retirement of Islamabad High Court (IHC) judge, Mr Shaukat Siddiqui , and renotified for his formal retirement as a judge to give him all perks and privileges and other benefits being given to other judges of the high courts on their retirement. The fresh notification issued with signature of Raja Naeem Akbar the secretary Law Division here said in pursuance of judgment of the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) dated March 22, 2024 -passed in constitutional petition No 78 of 2018 , 15 of 2020 and CP NO 2 of 2021 in CPLA No 1390 and 1397 OF 2012 and in exercise of the powers conferred under article 195 of the constitution of Pakistan , the president of Pakistan is please to retire Mr Shaukat Aziz Siddqui judge of IHC on attaining of age of superannuation with effect from June 30, 2021.
It added consequently this division earlier notification dated October 11, 2018 regarding removal of the learned former judge may be treared as with drawn.
Justice Shaukat Siddiqui was removed from his post as IHC judge in 2018 after his outburst in a public gathering accusing senior officiuls of Pakistan’s spy agency of meddling in his work as a judge . His forced retirement had deprived him of his lawful benefits which he could get on his retirement as a judge of IHC. Shaukat Siddiqui had moved SCP against his ceremonial dismal as a judge. SCP heard his case and passed on an order in his favour
