Hazara protest observed in Abbottabad — Calls for Hazara province grow louder

Abbottabad: A major commemorative event was held at Jalal Baba Auditorium in Abbottabad to mark the 15th anniversary of the April 10, 2010, Hazara martyrs. Organized by the Hazara Province Movement, the event drew a large crowd from across Hazara Division, including political, social, and religious figures, civil society members, students, and the general public.

The ceremony was presided over by Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Chairman of the Hazara Province Movement, Sardar Muhammad Yousuf. The event began with prayers for the departed souls of the martyrs.

In his address, Sardar Muhammad Yousuf emphasized that the movement for Hazara Province is not tied to any individual or party but is a trust passed on by the martyrs. He asserted that the demand is based solely on constitutional, legal, and administrative grounds, leaving no room for political agendas. “Hazara Province is a necessity of the time,” he said. “I have discussed the status of the current bill with the Speaker of the National Assembly and the Chairman Senate, and if required, a new bill will be introduced.”

He reiterated that Abbottabad remains the epicenter of the movement and the next phase of the campaign will be driven from here.

Zargul Khan, the movement’s coordinator for District Torghar, said that all tribes in Torghar are united in their demand for Hazara Province and assured continued support at every level.

Member of the National Assembly Dr. Shaista Khan Jadoon described the martyrs as the pride and backbone of the movement, adding that a struggle watered with their blood cannot be halted. “The day is not far when a new administrative unit named Hazara Province will be established,” she declared.

Senator Talha Mahmood, in his message, stated that the demand for Hazara Province has become inevitable and it is high time the voice of the people is heard.

Prominent attendees included Dr. Shaista Khan Jadoon (MNA), Sardar Shah Jehan Yousuf, Abdul Razzaq Abbasi, Zargul Khan, Sardar Owais, Sardar Shah Khan, Chaudhry Majid Mukhtar, Zulfiqar Javed Abbasi, Qari Mehboob ur Rehman, Maulana Atta ur Rehman, Mufti Jameel ur Rehman Farooqi, Sardar Zahid Manan, Sardar Khalid, Iqbal Awan, Sardar Muhammad Bashir, Prince Fazal Haq, Nargis Bibi, Aamna Sardar, Sardar Ahmed Nawaz, Sardar Syed Ghulam, Sheikh Shafi (Tehsil Mayor Mansehra), and Syed Ibrahim Shah (Tehsil Mayor Balakot).

The event concluded with prayers for the martyrs and a renewed pledge from the speakers to continue their struggle until Hazara Province becomes a reality.
