Heritage & Culture Division initiates funds disbursement to needy artists

Islamabad, Pakistan – July 9, 2025 – The National Heritage and Culture Division (NHCD) has initiated the distribution of funds under the Federal Government Artists Welfare Fund (FGAWF) for the fiscal year 2024-25, providing much-needed financial support to artists across the nation.

According to official sources, the distribution is proceeding in phases, with significant amounts already disbursed or in the process of being released.

In the initial phase, 60 artists have received Rs. 800,000/- to Rs. 130,000/- each, totaling an impressive Rs. 16,520,000/-. Cheques for these artists were issued up to June 30, 2025.

Following this, cheques for 140 artists, each receiving between Rs. 100,000/- to Rs. 75,000/-, have been signed and scheduled for forwarding to the Accountant General Pakistan Revenues (AGPR). These disbursements, totaling Rs. 12,330,000/-, are expected to be issued within the next two days.
This will facilitate the processing of payments to these artists in due course.

The Steering Committee of the Federal Government’s Artists Welfare Fund has approved financial assistance for 1,086 deserving artists from across Pakistan. The approval comes after a thorough shortlisting process of applications received from various categories of artists nationwide.

It is worth mentioning here that the initiative underscores the government’s commitment to supporting the artistic community and providing welfare assistance to those who contribute to the nation’s rich cultural heritage.
