Dear readers_,
I understand that there has been some controversy surrounding my frequent use of the word “Honourable” in my writings. Many of you have expressed your objections and even bestowed upon me the title of “Mr. Honourable” sarcastically, suggesting that true honor is a rare attribute in our society. While I appreciate your concerns, I would like to share my perspective on the matter.
In using the term “Honourable,” I aim to pay tribute to those individuals who have been recognized by society with titles, positions, wealth, power, and prestige. It is not for me to judge whether these individuals truly deserve the honor bestowed upon them. However, I believe that if society chooses to honor them based on certain criteria, it is important to acknowledge and respect that decision.
I do acknowledge that the criteria for honor in society may sometimes seem arbitrary or based on superficial factors, such as expensive cars or positions of power. This can lead to a sense of injustice among those who feel overlooked, such as myself when I ride my humble bicycle and go unnoticed. However, this debate is complex and merits further discussion on another occasion.
Let us now turn our attention to Honourable Shakil, the Public Relations Officer of the Pakistan Customs North Region. While I cannot personally comment on his qualification for the honorific title, I believe it is important to appreciate his efforts in projecting a positive image of his institution through his well-posed pictures. Similarly, Honourable Fazal Rahim Khan, a senior journalist from Swat, deserves our appreciation for his contributions to the field of journalism.
Ultimately, it is the society’s prerogative to determine who should be considered “Honourable.” I humbly request that you allow me to respectfully address individuals as such, with my head bowed down in their respect. Let us leave the judgment of who is truly deserving of honor to the society. Together, let us work towards a prosperous Pakistan in the hands of those who are honored by society.Long Live Pakistan🇵🇰🇵🇰🇵🇰🇵🇰 Your humbly – *Asim Effendi*
