Riyadh : The Institution of Engineers, Saudi Arabian Center (IEP-SAC) held its 66th Technical Seminar at the King Salman Social Center in Riyadh. Many Pakistani professional engineers working in Saudi Arabia attended the event.
The keynote speaker for the occasion was Prof. Dr. Salman Azhar, Graduate Programs Chair, School of Building Science, Auburn University, Auburn, Alabama, USA. The topic of his presentation was ‘Construction 4.0 and Beyond – Next Generation Construction Technologies’. In his talk, Dr. Azhar elaborated on several state-of-the-art technologies such as Building Information Modeling (BIM), Digital Twins, Construction Robotics, Reality Capture, 3D Concrete Printing, and Digital Fabrication showing how these technologies are transforming the construction industry.
The program started with the recitation of the Holy Quran. The Chief Guest for the occasion was H.E. Ahmad Farooq, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The seminar moderator Engr. Dr. Fakhir Hasani after welcoming the chief guest and seminar participants, introduced the keynote speaker. Engr. Asim Siddiqui, Secretary, IEP-SAC presented the agenda of the program and briefed the audience about the center’s activities. The Chairman of the Scholarships Committee, Arch. Farooq Iqbal presented the Scholarships report. The IEP-SAC has been awarding 96 scholarships to deserving students in 12 public sector engineering universities in Pakistan and Azad Kashmir since.
Chief Guest, H.E. Ambassador Ahmad Farooq, in his speech lauded the efforts of IEP-SAC in bringing the Pakistani engineers’ community closer through its professional and social programs. He thanked the IEP-SAC and the speaker for delivering a very informative seminar. He appreciated the services and contributions of the Pakistani engineers in the development of Saudi Arabia.
Chairman, IEP-SAC, Engr. Prof. Dr. Rafiq Chaudhary, in his speech congratulated the Events Committee for organizing a very informative seminar. He thanked the speaker and the participants for making it a success. He gave assurance that such programs will continue in future as well. He appreciated the efforts of the Publications Committee that made possible the publication of the IEP-SAC Journal in a very short time. He extended special thanks to the Embassy of Pakistan for their continued patronage and support without which it would not be possible for IEP-SAC to carry out its activities. He thanked all the sponsors of the event and requested them to extend their support for future events too. He made special thanks to the electronic and print media outlets for covering all IEP-SAC activities. Lastly, Prof. Dr. Rafiq Chaudhary thanked the government of Saudi Arabia for providing a professional working environment to the Pakistani engineers through which they are continuously upgrading their skills and gaining experience.
At the end a presentation ceremony was held in which an honorary shield was presented to the speaker for his keynote address by the Chief Guest. The Chairman IEP-SAC presented an honorary shield to the Chief Guest in appreciation of Embassy’s continued patronage of IEP-SAC. Appreciation shields were presented to outstanding council members for their extraordinary services to IEP-SAC. Certificates of authorship were distributed to the authors who contributed technical articles for the IEP-SAC journal The event ended with a group photo of all local council members with the Chief Guest and dinner for the participants.
