Islamabad: February 19, 2024: In a major development , Islamabad High Court (IHC) has suspended notifications of three Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) member- elect who had won from Islamabad.
Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) candidate Ali Bukhari, Shoab Shaheen and Amir Mughal had challenged win of an independent candidate , Raja Khurrum Nawaz , from NA 48, Dr Fazal Chaudhary’s from NA 47 and Anjum Aqeel’s from NA 46.
PMLN had won all three national assembly seats of Islamabad . PTI candidates had levelled charges of massive rigging in the polls and demanded verification of Form 45 and Form 47 in these three constituencies of national assembly. Raja Khurrum Nawaz had won 2018 election on PTI ticket. However, he partied ways with PTI after May 9 violence. In 2024 election Raja Khurrum Nawaz had won against PTI and other candidates of the constituency. PTI challenged his win in IHC. The court heard the case today (Monday) and suspended notifications of all three results of the national assembly seats of Islamabad.
Shoab Shaheen , a senior PTI leader and advocate, had lost to PMLN Dr Tariq Fazal from NA 47 Islamabad. Amir Masood Mughal of PTI had lost to PMLN Anjum Aqeel from NA 46 Islamabad. The court order has put PMLN in tight position as suspension of the notifications of three of its member- elect can make difficult for it to prove its majority in the lower house in the case it decides to form the government.
PTI is blaming the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for rigging in February 8 election and demanding to return its seats which were stolen to give benefit to its political opponents ECP calls these PTI claims as rubbish and claims that February 8 election was 100 % free and fair.
Pakistan is in the eye of storm for years as the international establishment is leaving no chance to defame its institutions Pakistan’s February 8 election had provided the international establishment a golden opportunity to attack on Pakistan and damage to fulfil its agenda of destalising it in the region. PTI claims of rigging is serving as a tool for the international establishment to carry out its anti Pakistan campaign and weaken it to bring it to the knees.
