Islamabad: Imaan Mazari, a lawyer, and her husband, Abdul Hadi, had been taken into custody in the federal capital, police sources told media on Monday.
The couple was detained in connection with a charge against them for interfering with government operations that was filed at the Aapbara Police Station.
Mazari, the daughter of former federal minister Shireen Mazari, was arrested a few days after she and her husband engaged in a fight with traffic police after they tried to take down the roadblocks set up for the visiting England team’s traffic procedure.
The last game of the three-match Test series between the English team and Pakistan was played at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

The teams were transported to the stadium in the morning when the tragedy happened at Islamabad Zero Point Interchange.
The sources also said that Mazari’s husband beat up police officers, mistreated them, and threatened them with severe repercussions.
Islamabad police stated that the couple had broken the standard operating procedures (SOPs) for state guests and threatened to file a prosecution, notwithstanding Mazari’s assertion that she was rushing because she had to get to court.
