Islamabad : Jan 2024 : In a major development , the Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) completed the 1st review of Pakistan’s economic reform program supported by IMF’s Stand By Arrangement (SBA) on Thursday.
The Board’s approval allows for an immediate disbursement of SDR 528 million (around US$ 700 million) bringing the total disbursements under the SBA to US$ 1.9 billion.
IMF review mission had completed its review on Pakistan’s economic reforms and termed it satisfactory some one and half months. The IMF ‘s mission report showing complete implementation of the conditions attached with SBA brighten chances for Pakistan to get a second tranche of $ 700 million.
Pakistan is showing unwaivering commitment to fulfill all conditions for reforming its ailing economy. With release of the second tranche by IMF, Pakistan will go ahead to overcome its economic mess and perform on economic front more confidently. The release of IMF tranche of $ 700 million will also improve inflow of funds from other international partners.
