ISLAMABAD : October 31,2022: Pakistan Teheek e Insaf (PTI) chief , Imran Khan, is following a 2- pronged strategy to get his demands fulfilled . One , Imran Khan is pushing his long march on Islamabad to gather maximum public support to build up his case before the real power brokers (the establishment) to cut a deal.
Second , exactly at the same time when he delivers harsh speeches targeting spy chief and other top military brass on the containers , he is negotiating directly with establishment to get some concessions for his party .
After launching of the long march , Imran Khan , had a several hours long meeting with a 3-member team designated by the establishment to negotiate with him and listen to his demands.
NEWSMAN learnt from reliable sources that the establishment has authorized a 3-member team which had the first meeting with Imran Khan in Lahore on Saturday, day 2 of the long march .
Sources said Imran Khan tabled two demands to the representatives of the real power brokers. One , that his input on appointment of the next army chief be given due weightage . Second , he wants general elections in the country not later than March 2023.
The designated team of the establishment heard Imran Khan’s demands and promised him to get back to him soon after getting the views of the establishment regarding his demands.
Sources also confided to this scribe that Imran Khan who made first round of talks with the designated team himself has nominated president , Dr Arif Alvi , for further talks on his demands.
Imran Khan had disappeared from the long march on Saturday for hours and his mysterious disappearance had raised many questions . After a break of many hours , Imran Khan , had joined the long march in Lahore. Imran Khan’s mysterious disappearance triggered a storm of rumours .
NEWSMAN source confirmed that Imran Khan left the long march in Lahore on Saturday and joined negotiations with the designated team of the establishment .
According to the sources a retired general headed the establishment team for negotiations with Imran Khan to find some amicable solution to convince PTI chief to call off his long march.
After first round, Imran Khan has assigned duty.of negotiations with the designated team of the establishment for final settlement of the thorny issues and get some concessions for PTI.
The establishment may take Imran Khan’s demand of the mid term polls in the country and put pressure on the government to hold general elections either in March or April next year, but it may not accept Imran Khan’s demand to take his input for appointment of the new army chief .
The establishment can convey to Imran Khan that his demand to take his input for appointment of the next army chief was unconstitutional and hence not practicable.
Imran Khan may not push the establishment. on his demand to give his input due weightage once his other key demand of early elections is accepted.
