LAHORE : Feb 20,2023: Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) chairman, Imran Khan, on Monday appeared before a bench of Lahore High Court (LHC) in the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) attack case.
Following in person appearance, the court extended the protective bail in the case of PTI chairman.
The LHC extended protective bail in the case till March 3,2023.
Senior party leadership and a large number of the party workers accompanied PTI to LHC.
On Friday last , PTI chief had not appeared before the court despite repeated opportunities and it offended the judge who rejected the application of PTI chief in the case. The court had summoned Imran Khan in the case today.
Imran Khan is on protective bail in the attack on Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) office case. He is required to appear in person before the court to get his protective bail confirmed .
While rejecting the bail plea of PTI chief, the court during the last hearing held on Friday had observed that the PTI chief’s protective bail can not be confirmed without his appearance in person.
PTI chief has security issues and he is avoiding coming in the public since he was attacked in Wazirabad during a long march last year aimed at throwing Shahbaz led Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) government.
However , now with no other option for relief in the case , PTI chief is most probably going to surrender himself before the court for confirmation of his protective bail in the case.
Reportedly , top PTI leadership will accompany Imran Khan to the court.
Meanwhile , PTI has sought permission from the LHC administration to allow Imran Khan to take his bulletproof vehicle inside the court premises to minimize hjs exposure to public during the appearance before the court.
