Based on my write – up, here comes comments of Honourable Dr Ali Jan, a brilliant young historian from Peshawar, who had immense contribution in the promotion of tourism in the terrorism stricken province of KPK. Two things failed us as a nation one we do not keep our words second we don’t upkeep things under our care and supervision and Edwards College Peshawar is one such sad example of the striking difference between its English and Local Principals.
“Sharoun Hanook” was a man who showed up from punjab before the College board under governor. And then appointed under pressure from diocese to take over as Principal. He was nominated by the diocese and diocese pressured the governor (thrn Shah Farman) who doesn’t know a thing about Edwardes and its 122 years history. The man never showed up.
Edwardes kept replacing acting Principals. The current ones are diocese favourites too.
In 122 years Principals have always come via the Church of England and have been non-natives . Usually Cambridge or Oxford scholars. If they make a request, they’ll send another one in the long line to keep this tradition .
The only experiment with a native Principal was a Christian ex army Brig couple of years ago, from Pindi who was later removed.
There are several allegations and reports of embezzlement and misappropriation and giving jobs to his relatives. College broke out in protests to oust him. He didn’t enjoy a good repute.
Zakki sb a respected teacher was brought in as acting principal but those allergic to merit, transparency, discipline were also able to replace him with the current lot of jokers”
