Inflation jumps up to 14.48 %: brings crushing price-hike

ISLAMABAD: As opposition continues protest against unprecedented price-hike in the country, the Statistic Division’s weekly data, released here on Friday, noted that inflation went -up by 1.38 % in the last one week to take it to 14.48%..
The official data showed the price of tomato per kg jumped- up by Rs 27.54, onion by Rs 5.09, rice, ghee by Rs 6.67 per kilo, eggs gone up by Rs 2.21 per dozen, cooking oil, petrol LPG cylinder rates went -up by Rs 154.,15, potato rates increasd by Rs 0.84, According to the Statistic Division, as many as 29 items became costlier including mutton, lentils, tea, milk , spices, whereas the rates of only 7 items including atta slightly went down during this period.
The opposition parties including Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) ,Pakistan People Party (PPP) and Jamaat e Islami (JI) are on the roads to protest against the price-hike. On Friday, the opposition organised rallies in different cities of the country including Lahore and Karachi.
Pakistan is facing unprecedented wave of the price-hike in the recent days. The people are facing huge pressure in buying items of daily use. Seeing the rising trend in the price-hike ,the opposition has launched a country wide protest. The senior opposition leaders are participating in the protest rallies.
The opposition also protested over the price- hike in the national assembly. PMLN leader, Khawaja Asif, took governor State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) , Raza Baqir, with severe criticism.
He said SBP governor, Raza Bakir, first destroyed Egypt and now he is on the same mission in Pakistan. Khawaja Asif said ” Governor SBP is on a mission to destroy Pakistan’s economy and his all actions are in the same direction. He demanded sacking of governor SBP immediately.
