Islamabad: February 9, 2024: Interior minister , Ejaz Gohar , said on Friday that decision to suspend mobile and internet service was taken on the intelligence reports of terrorists’ possible attacks on polling stations on the election day.
He said suspension of mobile and internet service is not something special to Pakistan it also happens in other countries. He said Pakistan can not afford to oversee terrorists attacks as those involved in these acts could target innocent people on the election day. Interior minister , Ejaz Gohar , said the security forces protected millions of voters on the election day by offering over one dozen precious lives.
Earlier , the Interior ministry issued the following statement.
The media and public concerns about late processing of the results to respective ROs have been reviewed. This has been attributed to lack of communication which was result of precautions taken to ensure foolproof security situation. The protocols, in ensuring safe custody of both personnel and ballots, are elaborate which consumed significant time. The situation is now satisfactory and results are expected to be flowing in continuously.
