Riyadh : A powerful array of renowned medical subject matter experts gathered in the Pakistan Embassy Riyadh on Friday 31st January 2025.
The event was hosted by His Excellency, Ambassador Ahmad Farooq, in the presence of the Chief Guest, Dr Hussein Al Amri,Senior Consultant Interventional Cardiologist, Ministry of Defence ,Prince Sultan Cardiac Centre,Riyadh- KSA
This followed an unprecedented level of preparation and collaboration between leaders of the UK National Health Service (NHS), the British Pakistani Psychiatrists Association (BPPA), Pakistan Doctors Group Riyadh (PDGR), and the local diaspora community.
The international medical symposium referred to the successful cross-pollination of experiences garnered in Pakistan and Saudi Arabia as well. Over two hundred attendees were the beneficiaries.
Psychiatry, Family Medicine, and Public Health were the focus of the speakers, and the importance of NHS leadership in the provision of healthcare for the 1.7 million people of Humber and North Yorkshire, with input from the Royal Colleges of Psychiatry and General Practice. Local comparators, such as the successes of the Riyadh 1 cluster, were also referenced.
Prof Duncan Selbie, Senior Advisor to the Saudi Public Health Authority, Weqaya, and Dr Al Amri, offered concluding remarks about the particular needs to address both mental health and cardiovascular disease burdens.
PDGR have an honor to contribute to the Health Transformation Vision 2030 in Riyadh. The success of the symposium reflects the dedication and collaboration of all the participants, speakers, and organizers.
