Is ‘Wasim Akram Plus’ on his way out ?

PTI insiders suggest PM to remove Buzdar

ISLAMABAD . Although prime minister, Imran Khan, is posing a bold face in public addresses and close door meetings, his own party senior leaders have suggested him to replace Sardar Usman Buzdar, as chief minister , Punjab to de-attach at least Jahangir Khan Tareen (JKT) from the opposition for minimising chances of success of the no confidence motion tabled in the national assembly against him.
A PTI trika comprising Asad. Umar, Pervez. Khattak and Asad Qaiser has come up openly to urge their political boss and prime minister , Imran Khan , to remove Sardar Usman Buzdar as Chief Executive of the Punjab province .
Chief minister ,Sardar Usman Buzdar, is in the eye of the storm for long. The PTI chief had picked him as chief minister Punjab in 2018 calling him his Wasim Akram Plus . He gave many logics to justify selection of Sardar Usman Buzdar like he comes from far flung and less developed area and his elevation to the office of Chief Executive of the largest province will add to wisdom of the prime minister and add to the party popularity .Many doubted the prime minister’s arguements for preferring Sardar Usman Buzdar over experienced Jahangir Khan Tareen, politically vibrant Aleem Khan and at least six other party heavy weights who could be the best candidates for holding office of Chief Executive of the Punjab, but the prime minister picked up a little known and politically weak Sardar Usman Buzdar for an important office of the Chief Minister Punjab . Basically, Imran Khan , wanted a weak person to install in Punjab with a mission to control Punjab province himself. His new approach of controlling Punjab himself and just had a dummy chief minister had a reason. He had appointed Pervez Khattak as chief minister in KPK from 2013 to 2018 and had faced hard time from him . Imran Khan’s bad experience of installing politically strong man in the province probably compelled him to go otherwise and chose weak men as chief ministers when his party won in KPK and managed to get majority in Punjab (Courtesy Janagir Khan Tareen). His new approach might have given him some satisfaction personally but it started to be counter productive soon when Sardar Usman Buzdar failed to deliver in the province. Seeing poor governance in Punjab , the ‘facilitators’ of Imran Khan were the first to suggest him to remove Usman Buzdar as chief minister with some other reasonable elected party member. The prime minister simply ignored these calls . Now when the time is already not in favour of the prime minister , his own party bigwigs are suggesting him to remove Usman Buzdar as chief minister Punjab . Its time to prove if the prime minister takes suggestion of his close political aides or remains incorrigible as usual.
