Addressing the District Donor Conference of Jamaat-e-Islami in Murree, Dr. Tariq Saleem said that the true requirements of Ramadan go far beyond abstaining from food and drink. He emphasized that the month demands complete avoidance of falsehood, backbiting, dishonesty, and all forms of moral wrongdoing. He added that Ramadan conveys the message of implementing the teachings and system of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in practical life, particularly in a country founded in the name of Islam.

Dr. Tariq Saleem said that this sacred month teaches patience, tolerance, and love for humanity, urging Muslims to adopt these qualities in their daily conduct. He stressed that the Quran should not be limited to mere recitation; rather, its understanding and practical application must become an integral part of life. Ramadan is about seeking the pleasure of Allah Almighty, shaping our lives according to piety, worship, and service to humanity, he said, adding that this reflects the true significance and purpose of the holy month. Other speakers at the conference included Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Murree Ghulam Ahmed Abbasi, President Jamiat-e-Ittehad-ul-Ulama Punjab Maulana Amir Usman, and Ahsan Siraj Abbasi, who also highlighted the spiritual importance of Ramadan and the need for collective reform. Dr. Tariq Saleem further stated that the primary objective of fasting is to cultivate self-restraint and moral strength, which in turn fosters patience, tolerance, and the development of a society rooted in Islamic values.

He described Ramadan as the best opportunity for self-accountability and self-improvement, noting that if its spirit is properly understood and practiced, it can lead to the betterment of both individuals and society.
He concluded by saying that Ramadan is a comprehensive spiritual training that purifies character, strengthens faith, and promotes compassion, humility, and social responsibility.
