PESHAWAR, (Newsman): In a recent escalation of violence in the Kurram district, the home of a senior journalist, Muhammad Rehan was completely burned down during an attack in the Bagan area of Lower Kurram.
The incident occurred last night when armed assailants launched an attack, using both light and heavy weaponry.
Rehan’s residence, along with several adjacent buildings, including a guest house, was set ablaze, forcing his family to flee in distress to nearby areas for safety.
Speaking to the media, Rehan, a member of the Peshawar Press Club (PPC) and Khyber Union of Journalists (KhUJ), described the chaotic situation, revealing that intense gunfire erupted in the Bagan area as a violent mob attacked, using various weapons.
According to Rehan, Bagan Market was set on fire, followed by the torching of several nearby homes.

“It was an extremely difficult situation. Amid the heavy gunfire, we had to move women and children to safer locations,” Rehan recounted.
This attack comes just days after the tragic killing of journalist Janan Hussain from Upper Kurram, who was shot dead in an armed assault in Lower Kurram.

The Peshawar Press Club, Khyber Union of Journalists, and the local media community have strongly condemned the violence and called for urgent protection for journalists in the region. They have demanded that the authorities ensure lasting peace and security to prevent further attacks on civilians and media workers.
The ongoing violence has claimed more than 40 lives, further exacerbating tensions in the area.
