LAHORE : Nov 17,2022: Joyland , an Oscar entry Pakistani film, has turned into a real drama not only for its producer and cast, but also for the film viewers who had welcomed a news of lifting ban on its release by the federal government just 24 hours ago.
The lifting of ban by the federal government for release of this film has literally tuned into a shortlived drama as now the government of Punjab , Pakistan’s most populated province, has slapped ban on its release.
Pakistan Film Censor Board has authority to censor a film prior to its release to ensure that a particular film being release to show at ceinema houses does not contain any material that falls under any socially or morally objectionable material . Pakistan Film Censor Board also has authority to expunge a part primarily objectionable from the film or ban a film as a whole if it contains objectionable material.
In the case of Joy land film , there are a series of objections raised by the concerned circles on its theme. For example , Joy land film is full of objectionable contents. A main objection which is a basic reason of its ban is its content which falls under a highly contentious one for promoting homosexuality .
Joyland is a 2022 Pakistani Punjabi-language drama film written and directed by Saim Sadiq in his feature film directorial debut. The film starring Ali Junejo, Rasti Farooq, Alina Khan, and Sarwat Gilani centers on the extended patriarchal Ranas family, who yearn for the birth of another boy.
The producer has already uploaded the trailer of the film and it has become a great attraction for the film viewers.
The film is the most popular in Pakistan even without its release.
Asad Ali Malik , a film viewer in Lahore , reacted to the apunjab government after permitting its release by the federal government .
He said I think some drama is going on to twist arms of the producer and its management and Punjab government decision to ban its release seems its one part. Asad Ali Malik argues that the viewers could be the best judge if any film contains objectionable material they will reject it . He was release of Joyland film without further arm twisting in the name of censorship.
