Justice Yahya Afridi to Take Oath as CJP

ISLAMABAD, October 26, 2024:  Justice Yahya Afridi is poised to take the oath of office as Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) in a ceremony at the Aiwan-e-Sadr.

The oath will be administered by President Asif Ali Zardari.

Justice Afridi succeeds former CJP Qazi Faez Isa, who retired on October 25. His appointment is significant as he is the first Chief Justice to be appointed under Articles 175A(3), 177, and 179 of the Constitution, following the 26th Constitutional Amendment. He will serve a fixed term of three years.
