KP police foil majority of terror attacks on independence day night

PESHAWAR – Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Zulfiqar Hameed has said that KP Police, with remarkable bravery and courage, successfully repelled most of the terrorist attacks carried out last night, thwarting the enemy’s plans to target Pakistan’s Independence Day celebrations.

According to the IGP, the Indian sponsored militant faction Fitna al-Khawarij launched 15 coordinated attacks across different districts of KP on the night of August 14.Police forces foiled 12 of these assaults without any damage, terming it a testament to the unmatched valor and determination of KP’s law enforcement personnel.

“These attacks on the eve of Independence Day are undeniable proof that these elements are enemies of the country and agents of India’s conspiracies, IGP Hameed stated, Our brave policemen have not only defeated their designs but fulfilled their sacred duty to defend the homeland.

The IGP personally toured the districts where the attacks took place, attended the funerals of the police martyrs, visited the injured in hospitals, and praised their resilience.

He emphasized that targeting the country on its founding day reveals the true nature of these criminals, adding: “No true Muslim could ever contemplate attacking a nation liberated in the name of Islam. These individuals are merely pawns playing into the hands of a hostile neighbor for money.”

Authorities confirmed that despite the terrorists’ attempts, most attacks were thwarted before they could inflict harm, with security remaining on high alert across the province.
