PESHAWAR : Jan 20,2023: For the first time in Pakistan’s history , the leader of the house (Chief minister Mahmood Khan) and opposition leader (Akram Durrani ) have picked up a consensus candidate for the office of the caretaker chief minister of Khyber Pukhtunkhaw (KPK).
Chief minister ,Mahmood Khan , and opposition leader , Akram Durrani , finalised name of Mohammad Azam Khan for caretaker chief minister of the province.
Both Mahmood Khan and. Akram Durrani signed the nomination of Mohammad Azam Khan as caretaker chief minister of KPK.
Pakistan Teheek e Insaf (PTI) senior leader, Pervez Khattak , played a key role in reaching to a consensus on the name of Mohammad Azam Khan for the slot of KPK caretaker chief minister .
After reaching to a concensus on the name of caretaker chief minister , both sides expressed hope that the caretaker chief minister will rise to the occasion and deliver as a caretaker chief minister of KPK.
Mohammad Azam Khan is a retired bueaurocrat. He has also served as a caretaker federal minister.
Unlike KPk, in Punjab stand off on the name of a caretaker chief minister is continuing . Both leader of the house in Punjab assembly have failed to reach to a consensus within a stipulated time and matter has been referred to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP for a final decision .
