PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pukhtunkha (KPK) police on Thursday arrested 14 persons in overnight raids in connection with attack on Hindu temple in northwest town of Karak.
A mob led by a local clerc affiliated with Jaamaat Ulema Islam, a radical political group, had attacked Hindu temple in Karak on Wednesday later torched and razed it to ground. The Pakistan Hindu Council (PHC) had protested the attack on Hindu temple in Karak and announced to demonstrate protest in front of Supreme Court Registry Karachi on Thursday (today). The PHC leaders had demanded arrest of those who were involved in this attack on temple in KPK.
The KPK police said the more raids were underway to arrest all those who provoked the mob or were involved in the attack on temple in Karak.
The social society and other human groups in Pakistan have condemned the attack on temple in KPK and demanded strict action against the religious clerc who provoked the mob to attack on it and razed it to the ground.
Federal religious minister, Noorul Haq Qadri, had termed the attack on temple in Karak as a well thought conspiracy to damage Pakistan’s image and undermine the government efforts aimed at religious harmony in the country. He vowed to take strict action against those who were responsible of this hateful act of attacking and demolishing the temple.
The protection of minorities warship places like temple is a serious issue in Pakistan. In recent past the construction of Hindu temple in Islamabad had initiated months long controversy.
