KPK senate elections – Govt secures 6 , opposition wins 5 seats

Peshawar — Senate elections for general, women, and technocrat seats were held at the Jirga Hall of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, with the ruling party securing 6 seats and the opposition winning 5.

Winners of the General Seats: From the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Murad Saeed, Faisal Javed, Mirza Afridi, and Pir Noor-ul-Haq Qadri emerged victorious. From the opposition, Niaz Ahmed of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Talha Mahmood of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), and Atta-ul-Haq Darvesh of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) were elected.

Women’s Seats: PTI’s Rubina Naz and PPP’s Rubina Khalid won the two seats reserved for women.

Technocrat Seats: PTI’s Azam Swati and JUI-F’s Dilawar Khan secured the two technocrat seats.

Murad Saeed (PTI) – 26 votes

Faisal Javed (PTI) – 22 votes

Mirza Afridi (PTI) – 21 votes

Pir Noor-ul-Haq Qadri (PTI) – 21 votes

Niaz Ahmed (PML-N) – 18 votes

Talha Mahmood (PPP) – 17 votes

Atta-ul-Haq Darvesh (JUI-F) – 18 votes

The contests for women and technocrat seats were also fiercely contested, with strong candidates fielded by both the government and the opposition.

Overall, both the government and opposition achieved notable victories in the Senate elections, leading to a more balanced representation of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the upper house of Parliament.
